Greene County SheriffA possible verbal altercation may be the result of a traffic accident in Greene County.

Sheriff Steve Haupert says at 8:06pm on Tuesday, two deputies responded to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Grand and Madison streets in Scranton.

He states that 38 year-old Tracy William McDonald of Jefferson was traveling on Grand Street when he reportedly slammed on the brakes forcing 42 year-old Donald Duane Daniel of Scranton to hit McDonald’s 2007 Chrysler 300M from behind.

Haupert points out that there was a possible verbal altercation between the two before the accident and McDonald was agitated from the argument which may have led him to slam on his brakes.

He notes that the two then began arguing and a Department of Transportation Enforcement Officer arrived on scene first and separated the two.  Haupert adds that the Scranton Fire Department and the Greene County Emergency Medical Services also responded and Daniel was taken to the Greene County Medical Center for a possible injury to his foot and McDonald was uninjured in the accident.

Following completion of the investigation, Haupert says both drivers will be issued citations for disorderly conduct and Daniel will also be cited for failure to stop in a safe and assured distance with more charges pending.

Minor damage was done to McDonald’s Chrysler and Daniel’s 2005 Yamaha motorcycle.
