isu extensionIowa State Extension Nutrition & Health Program Specialist Holly Van Heel is scheduled to put on an “Eat Your Herbs” program this evening in Guthrie Center, but she’s also going to be in town for another program next month as well.

“Preserve the Taste of Summer” will discuss the importance of using USDA-approved and tested recipes and cooking methods to eliminate health concerns caused by improperly handled or preserved foods.  The course will teach area residents some food preservation techniques, such as canning, freezing and about food dehydration.

Van Heel will put on two separate workshops next month, one being at 2pm and the other at 6pm on Tuesday, August 12th.  The cost to participate in either of the sessions is $10 per person.

Registrations for “Preserve the Taste of Summer” are due by Friday, August 8th.

Anyone with questions or if you’d like to sign-up, call Extension Office Program Coordinator Mary Ebert at 641-747-2276.
