midwest partnershipWe’ve heard from Midwest Partnership Executive Director Chad Schreck the past couple of days as he’s discussed some of the latest news coming out of his organization.

Today, Schreck comments on a different item pertaining to Midwest Partnership… that being the always important task of business recruitment.  With Schreck working to help bring new businesses to available sites in Audubon, Adair, Guthrie and Greene County, he says inquiries from prospective businesses have increased this summer.

“It’s been real positive–we’ve seen some more inquiries coming in lately which has been really great, in both retail and manufacturing.  A lot of those inquiries are in the early (stages) and it’s tough in economic development to tell people we can’t say too much, but we do have some exciting prospects.”

While not able to go into specifics as it pertains to who Schreck has had contact with of late, he says the focus of his organization remains clear: take care of the businesses that are in house first.

“We continue pushing and wanting to bring in new things, but through it all, our focus is always going to be making sure who we have already is able to be successful and keep growing.  The ones outside (the area) are seeing that now and hopefully that’s a good draw to bring more (businesses) in.”

To hear the final segment of our full two-part conversation with Schreck, tune-in to today’s Let’s Talk Guthrie County program on K107, which airs during the 9am, noon and 5pm hours.
