isu extensionThe Guthrie County Extension & Outreach Office is hosting its “Farm Ownership and Management Transition Night” workshop tomorrow.

ISU Extension Farm Management Specialist Shane Ellis will be the keynote speaker for the event, and he explains for us why he feels its a must-attend workshop for area farmers young and old.

“Here recently we’ve seen a growing trend of new generations of farmers coming into the businesses.  Eventually retirement comes to us all, and we’re going to see some of these operations start to transfer from the existing operator to new producers.  That transition period in there, particularly if it’s a generation within a family, sometimes there are things that can help make that transition a little bit easier.”

There is no cost to attend tomorrow’s workshop, which will be held at the Extension Office in Guthrie Center.

To hear Ellis discuss the workshop in full detail, tune-in to today’s Let’s Talk Guthrie County program during the 9am, noon and 5pm hours on K107.
