A Minburn man will spend the next 10 years behind bars after being convicted of child pornography charges.

76 year-old Harold Holmstrom was sentenced on the federal charges July 23rd.  Southern U.S. District Court Judge John Jarvey sentenced him to the maximum 10 years in jail, followed by a lifetime of supervised release.

According to U.S. Homeland Security Investigations agents, Holmstrom was caught using a computer program to download more than 4,800 images of child pornography.  He has also been identified as one of the top ten most active collectors of the material in the state between 2010 and 2012.

In addition, court documents show that Holmstom sexually abused five female family members decades ago when they were small children.  Though this had gone unreported until the federal conviction, the judge did take it into account when determining the sentence.

Judge Jarvey says the victim impact statements read in this case are among some of the “most difficult” he has read during his tenure on the bench.
