Last week, the Jefferson City Council appointed Mike Wahl to the City’s fire department.

Fire Chief Randy Love says Wahl lives in town and works at McAtee Tire Service Incorporated.  He talks about Wahl joining the volunteer fire department for the City.

“He doesn’t really have firefighter training but he seems really willing to learn everything we need to teach him to do it.  He is pretty strong because he’s use to working at McAtee’s lifting tractor tires and things like that so that always helps to get some strength in there too.”

However, with the addition of Wahl on the department, that only brings them up to 26 members of the 30-member department.

Love comments that they are looking for a few more people to join the volunteer fire department.  He points out that fire training is a plus but not necessary.
