Whatever kind of music you like, you can find it in Guthrie County. This has been a month for musical inspiration. One such event is in its 17th year and gets better and better. Starting off with just three groups to now twenty and others being added to a waiting list, shows nothing but progress.

The free 17th Annual Guthrie County Southern Gospel Sing promises to deliver this weekend at the Guthrie County Fairgrounds. According to Director Mary Porter Southern Gospel isn’t just popular in the South.

“A lot of people like Southern Gospel music, it’s not just a big thing in the South.” CUT1

Event starts Friday 3 pm to 8:30 pm and Saturday starts 10 am to 8:30 pm. The talent ranges from quartets, trios, duets as well as individual singers. Just a few of the groups that will be showcased are Ambassadors of Grace out of Missouri, Crimson River from Illinois, and Headin’ Home Quartet with roots in our very own Stuart.

Everything you need will be available for a fun Gospel singing filled weekend, including food provided by our local Lion’s Club.

To hear our full conversation with Mary Porter, tune-in to today’s Let’s Talk Guthrie County program.  That airs during the 9am, noon and 5pm hours on K107.
