160th St AccidentA two-vehicle accident in Greene County yesterday sends four people to the hospital.

Sheriff Steve Haupert says at 5:50pm on Monday, 43 year-old Timothy David Tucker of Jefferson was traveling west on 160th Street, north of Jefferson, when his 2005 Ford F-350 Super Duty pickup truck collided with a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that was driven by 19 year-old Jessica Amber Montoya of Jefferson who was heading south on M Avenue.

Haupert notes that the intersection is an uncontrolled gravel intersection in the rural part of the county and tall corn played a role in the cause of the accident.

Haupert states that four people were taken to the Greene County Medical Center by Greene County Emergency Medical Services with non-life threatening injuries which included Jessica Montoya and her passenger, 21 year-old Caleb Christopher Byerly of Churdan and two passengers from the Tucker vehicle with 15 year-old Trey Darwin Tucker and 17 year-old Tori Nicole Tucker.  Trey and Tori were released from the hospital and the status of the other two victims are unknown at this time.

Haupert comments that Timothy Tucker and another child were uninjured in the accident.  Everyone was wearing their seatbelts and airbags were deployed.  Each vehicle sustained $10,000 in damages.  No charges are pending at this time.

Haupert reminds everyone to slow down and check both sides of the road when approaching an intersection with tall corn stalks that can block a driver’s vision.

The Greene County Sheriff’s office, the Jefferson and Churdan Fire departments and the Greene County Emergency Medical Services all responded to the incident.
