Jameson RossAn Iowa man was arrested following a gun incident in Jefferson.

Police Chief Dave Morlan says at 9:18pm on Wednesday, an officer and a Greene County Deputy responded to a call about a male pointing a gun at people at the Redwood Motel at 209 East Gallup Road.

When authorities arrived on scene, Morlan states the officer approached the hotel room that the male was allegedly waving a loaded gun around and making threats to people inside the room and to people at the First Assembly of God Church.

The officer saw the suspect point the Glock 27 4th generation 40-caliber pistol in his direction and ordered him to put it down.  The man complied and was taken into custody without any shots fired and without the officer having to pull out his handgun.

Morlan comments that he’s glad the incident was resolved without anyone getting hurt and without the officer having to use any force to apprehend the accused individual.

Morlan notes that 22 year-old Jameson Todd Ross of Runnels, Iowa was charged with aggravated misdemeanors for assault and carrying weapons and his first offense for public intoxication.  Ross was booked into the Greene County Jail.
