Adel-DeSoto-Minburn’s head cross country coach David Zwank shares his thoughts about his goals and expectations for the upcoming 2014 fall season.

He says his biggest goal is to help each student-athlete improve from the beginning of the season to the end.  Zwank talks about helping everyone improve, not just the top end of the varsity lineup.

“Unique qualities or special qualities I think about our sport is a kid can improve and you can feel very successful with that.  He might be actually your last runner in terms of times, but maybe they improve the most.”

He points out that he also make sure everyone has fun whether it be at competitions or at practices.

“It’s kind of hard to do things that you don’t enjoy and so not everybody of course enjoys running.  But you kind of know after you’ve gone through a training series and everything else that things have gone well and you’ve again shown improvement and that’s kind of I guess the nature of our sport.”

The third goal is to have someone make it to state like last year with two individuals that qualified.

ADM’s first cross country race is in Urbandale on Thursday, September 4th.
