The first three weeks of the cross-country season for Greene County high school has gone well. Coach Kelly Simpson’s harriers have been in three meets with a fourth set for tomorrow at the Panorama Invitational on the Panorama par three golf course near Panora.

The Greene County girls are ranked sixth in Class 3A and have won one meet and finished fourth and fifth in the other two meets. In both cases, the teams ahead of the Rams were Class 4A teams, so the Greene County squad has stood tall against other 3A competition.

The boys from Greene County have been as high as third place once and in the lower division in the other two meets. The Rams have made progress from a year ago when they were at or near the bottom of the standings in nearly every meet during the first half of the season.

Just over 30 schools are scheduled to take part in the Panorama meet tomorrow. Middle school races and high school races will be held for boys and girls with a starting time of 4:30 p.m.
