This is the middle of the season for the Greene County High School cross-country teams. Coach Kelly Simpson’s girls and boys teams run tomorrow in Story City at the Roland-Story Invitational held at the Riverbend Golf Course. The Rams are ranked sixth in the Class 2A girls’ poll, and are coming off a second place finish at the Panorama Invitational on the Par Three Golf Course near Panora. Panorama’s girls’ team, ranked eighth in 1A, won the team title. The Greene County boys have finished as high as third place this season, and have been in the middle and lower halves of most meets.

Runners on both teams will look for continued improvement as they head into the second half of the season. After the R-S meet, the Rams will have just four regular season meets on the schedule. They be in Perry on Oct. 2, at Lake City for the South Central Calhoun Invite on Oct. 7, followed by the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference meet on Oct. 13 in Ames on the Iowa State University course, and the last regular season meet is scheduled for Saydel (Des Moines) on Oct. 16.

Class 2A regional meets will be held around the state on Thursday, Oct. 23.
