The Greene County girls were second and the boys were eighth on Thursday on Story City’s Riverbend Golf Course at the Roland-Story Norsemen Invitational cross-country meet. Dallas Center-Grimes took both team titles. The Fillies had 30 points to the Rams’ 92 on the girls’ side. West Central Valley (Stuart) was third at 101, followed by Madrid/Woodward-Granger 1212, South Hamilton (Jewell) 132, Nevada 139, Bondurant-Farrar 149, R-S 194, Saydel (Des Moines) 226, and Colo-NESCO 277. DC-G scored 39 points to win the boys’ title with Saydel next at 92. Ogden was third at 98, followed by R-S 121, Nevada 138, WCV 173, B-F 201, Greene County 211, SH 224, C-N 230, Madrid/W-G 271, and Woodward Academy 279.

Lexi Smith of DC-G was the girls’ individual champion for four kilometers (2.48miles) in 15.36.81. The Rams were led by fourth place finisher Olivia Hansen in 16:28.98. Emily Christensen was 14th in 16:50.86, Eme Johnson 15th in 16:51.48, Noelle Gray 25th in 17:30.73, and Jolee Wessling 44th in 18:51.71. The first four Greene County runners recorded personal best times.

Trey Thompson of Ogden won the boys’ five kilometers (3.1 miles) race in 16:46.11. The top Greene County finisher was Landon Braun in 18:52.28, good for 32nd place. Logan Egeland was 40th in 19:16.59, followed by Kane Borgeson, 49th in 19:29.85, Ethan Woodruff, 56th in 19:50.80, and 76th place finisher Anthony Cunningham in 20:26.53.
