The Iowa Girls High School Union volleyball regional pairings are out, and the No. 10 ADM Tigers have been rewarded with a first-round bye.

At 18-8 overall, ADM was placed in Class 4A-Region 3 along with Winterset, Norwalk, No. 13 Creston, Glenwood and No. 12 Lewis Central, who also has a bye. On Thursday, Oct. 30, ADM will host the winner of Winterset and Norwalk from the first round.

“I really had no idea where they would send us because I’ve kind of seen the different extremes,” ADM coach Mary Beth Scott said. “But I’m pleasantly pleased that we are where we are.”

Scott added that it will be a tough region to get through because of the other two ranked teams.

For now, ADM is focused on winning a second consecutive Raccoon River Conference title. The Tigers are currently in third place with a 4-1 conference record, a half-game behind 4-0 Bondurant-Farrar and Carroll.

ADM has the entire week off from matches, and will resume play next Tuesday, Oct. 14 at home against Bondurant-Farrar. They also finish the season at Carroll, which could potentially decide the conference champion.

Check back later this week to find out how ADM is using the 12-day layoff in between matches.
