After playing just once last week due to scheduled Homecoming activities, the Greene County High School volleyball team has a big week of action scheduled this week. Coach Donna Carhill’s team will play on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, all on the road, starting with Oct. 7 action in Boone vs. the Class 4A ninth ranked Toreadors, and Heart of Iowa Activities Conference rival Gilbert. Starting time is 5 p.m.

Greene County plays 3A number 14 North Polk in Alleman in HOIAC action on Oct. 9, before going to the Pella Tournament on Oct. 11. Two more road dates await the Rams next week; at Jewell vs. South Hamilton on Oct. 14, and in Johnston for the Dragons tournament on Oct. 18. The Rams will have gone 34 days without a game at home in Jefferson by the time they close the regular season in the middle school gym vs. Perry on Monday, Oct. 20.

The Rams enter this week with an overall record of 9-7 and a record of 24-20 in sets. The Rams are 4-2 in the HOIAC, and in a tie for fourth place in the conference with South Hamilton (Jewell). Class 3A third ranked Nevada has a 6-0 conference record, followed by number 12 Roland-Story (Story City) at 6-1, and fourteenth ranked North Polk (Alleman) at 3-1.
