The Guthrie Center High School is celebrating its homecoming week this week.
Student Council Advisor Ashley Wendl says this year’s theme is “Bad to the Bone”.
During each day of the week, students and staff can dress up according to what each individual “theme” day it is. Today is Farmer Day, Tuesday is the typical “-er” day where you can dress up as anything that is school appropriate that ends with an “er”, Wednesday is Movie Character/Career Day, Thursday is Throwback Day and Friday is Spirit Day.
Wendl adds that several area downtown businesses have their windows painted to support the Tiger’s homecoming week.
The king and queen coronation ceremony will take place towards the end of the week on Friday after the parade at 2:30pm. The parade route will be from Hometown Foods grocery store to the Guthrie County Courthouse where a community pep assembly will follow.
This year’s homecoming court includes Cheinie Case, Claire Thompson, Hannah Grizzle, Sydney Danker, Taylor Vogel, Cale Crowder, Jared Baier, Jared Berger, Lane Rumelhart, & Trevor Hunt.
The homecoming court and king and queen will also be presented at halftime of the varsity football game against East Union at 7pm.
The dance will also be on Friday night after the football game from 9:30pm-midnight at the school’s gym. Tickets are $3 each or $5 for a couple.
