Perry High SchoolThe Perry School Board held their annual and regular meetings last night.

At the annual meeting the board again elected Dan Wilhelmi as president and Jim Lutmer as vice president.  After the oath of office for officers, the board chose move regular board meetings ahead one half hour on the second Monday of the month at 6pm in the Brady Library at Perry High School.  Board committee selections were then approved, with no changes over the prior year. Director Kyle Baxter was again appointed to the Iowa Association of School Boards delegate assembly as a legislative representative and Director Dan Wilhelmi will again serve as a representative on the Dallas County Conference Board.

During the regular meeting, Mary Hillman with PACES invited the board to their annual Pledges for PACES and Lights Off for After School program.  The board approved a renewal of insurance coverage and premiums for the district with Employes Mutual Insurance company, through the IASB Safety Group Insurance Program.

Superintendent Lynn Ubben then gave an update in the School Administrators of Iowa, Legislative Committee Meeting and Employee Relations Conference.  She talked about what the priorities of these groups are and what is being done to address their concerns.

Master forms and contracts for games and officials were then approved along with authorizing the athletic director to use the board president’s electronic signature when necessary and appropriate.

The Board then approved design services for the elementary parking project, Shive-Hattery will be providing these services.  Title I Coordinator Kelly Schloss then reviewed the 2014-2015 application and some of the new opportunities.  She says the Title I budget only dropped slightly, $42, this year. She says free and reduced lunch rates at the middle school have gone down, though homeless numbers have increased over last year.

A hearing for the district’s five year Instructional Support Program Levy was then set for the next regular meeting November 10th.  This is not a new levy but a motion to continue the one that is currently in place.

Board policy revisions were then approved in regards to Community Use of School District Facilities and Equipment and being a tobacco and nicotine free environment.

Finally, Priscilia Morales was approved for an early graduation and personnel changes were approved as presented.
