dallas county sheriffA Nebraska man has been sentenced to a year in prison for drug charges stemming from a traffic stop in Dallas County last year.

According to the U.S. District Court 20 year-old Juan Carlos Gomez of Grand Island, Nebraska pled guilty to possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine. Judge Stephanie M. Rose handed down the 12 month prison sentence along with ordering Gomez to serve three years of supervised release and pay a $100 special assessment to the Crime Victim’s Fund.

Gomez was driving a vehicle that was stopped in Dallas County on May 7, 2013.  In the vehicle officers found approximately 863 grams of a mixture containing methamphetamine.  The two passengers in the vehicle, Alberto Anguiano and Thomas Lee Boswell both pleaded guilty as well. Anguiano was sentenced to a 120 month imprisonment and Boswell has yet to be sentenced.

Investigation in this case was conducted by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
