ADM Volleyball has played its way to a No. 13 ranking in Class 4A thanks in large part to a talented group of upperclassmen. When thinking of the team’s success, the senior class or “big five” of Maddie Mikkelsen, Kari Dufoe, Marissa Felt, Kenzi Sutton and Abby Merschman are the first names that come to mind.

But there’s a less heralded player — perhaps because she’s a freshman — who has flown under the radar. Jordan Hook has made a significant contribution to this season’s team, all while playing a position she’s not necessarily natural to.

As a libero, Hook has registered 132 digs this season, which ranks fourth on the team. ADM head coach Mary Beth Scott said she’s pleased with how Hook has played this season and that she has picked up the intricacies of the position quicker than the average freshman. While Hook continues to learn the game at the varsity level, Scott sees her as a versatile contributor now and in the future.

“She’s going to have a lot of potential over the next few years,” Scott said. “Not sure if she’ll continue to play libero. Every year the people change and so we may have a need elsewhere. Jordan’s a very well-rounded player. We had a spot open, and we figured this was a good way to get her involved and get her touching the ball as many times as possible.”

Hook and the rest of the Tigers conclude the regular season this Thursday at Carroll.
