ADM head boys basketball coach Aaron Mager had his preseason meeting over the weekend to check in with returning players and gauge the interest of potential new players. We caught up with Mager to get his early read on what fans can expect from the Tigers this season.

Mager was high on ADM’s returning letterwinners, pointing to a veteran roster. The Tigers lost several players due to graduation, most notably Robbie Sloss, who chipped in nearly seven points per game last year. For the most part, however, ADM brings back its key contributors from a year ago.

Five of the Tigers’ top six scorers from last season are back, including seniors Kyle Ferguson, Joe Sloss, Jake Sloss and Johnny Reel, as well as junior Jacob Hardy. Mager said that in theory, that bodes well for ADM’s chances because those players have a year or more of varsity basketball under their belt and understand what it takes to grind through the season.

“With that being said, the last two season we’ve only won three games and six games,” Mager said. “So what we’ve got to now do is get our  confidence up and get our expectation level to where we expect that experience to translate into wins. That’s the next step for us coming into the season, make sure we can get our mindset moving in that direction.”

The Tigers finished 6-16 last season. The ADM’s boys squad’s first full practice is Monday, Nov. 17.
