The high school volleyball regular season is over and the Greene County Rams had an upper division finish in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference. Coach Donna Carhill’s Rams were 6-3 in league play, good for a tie for third place with North Polk (Alleman). Nevada won the conference title with a 9-0 mark and Roland-Story (Story City) was next at 8-1. The Rams and Comets were both 6-3 with Gilbert and South Hamilton (Jewell) both at 5-4. PCM (Monroe) and CMB (Maxwell) tied for seventh place at 2-7, and Colfax-Mingo and Saydel (Des Moines) each went 1-8.
Overall, the Rams are 13-17 in games and 40-45 in sets. All that’s left is the postseason and Greene County has a difficult first round opponent. The Rams travel to HOIAC champion Nevada to face the Class 3A fifth ranked Cubs at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 27. The winner plays in Nevada on Oct. 30 against either Gilbert or Southeast Valley (Gowrie) in a Region 4 semifinal game.
