When Greene County hosts Carroll High in the football regular season finale tomorrow night, Coach Dean Lansman’s Rams will be looking to slow down an offense that has not been slowed very often. Carroll High is 5-0 in Class 3A District 2 and the eighth ranked Tigers are 7-1 overall with the lone loss coming in week seven in Sioux City to 2013 State Champion Bishop Heelan. Coach Dennis Mc Cartan’s Tigers are averaging 38 points a game and the closest margin in their seven victories is 24 points, which came against once-beaten Humboldt.

The Rams are coming off back-to-back victories for the first time this season and have evened their record at 4-4 after starting 1-3. Greene County and Humboldt are both 4-1 in district play and if the Rams pull the upset on Friday and Perry upsets Humboldt, the Rams would win the district title. If the favored Carroll and Humboldt teams win against Greene County and Perry, then Carroll would be first, Humboldt second, and Greene County third. The Tigers, Wildcats, and Rams have already clinched playoff berths, but it may be Saturday morning before playoff pairings are released to the public by the Iowa High School Athletic Association. First round games in all six classes are set for Wednesday, Oct. 29.

Coverage of Carroll at Greene County from Linduska Field in Jefferson begins on KG98 at 6:45 p.m. with kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
