The ADM boys and girls cross country teams concluded their seasons Thursday afternoon at the 3A state qualifying meet at the Perry Golf and Cross Country Club.

The top 10 runners individually and top three teams overall  at each state qualifying site advance to the state meet, and unfortunately neither Tigers team or a Tigers runner made the cut. The Gilbert boys and girls squads each took first. For the girls race, Winterset and Humoldt followed Gilbert to make the cut for state, while Algona and Dallas-Center Grimes did so for the boys varsity race.

The ADM girls varsity finished 11th out of 13 teams. The top five Tigers runners were as follows: Jesse Howard placed 38th ( 17:42.93), Ashlie Hauf 40th (17:46.46), Kylie Huaf 48th (18:01.25), Emily Hoffman 66th (18:52.84) and Sidney Engleman 69th (18:56.13). ADM’s team finish might have been better if not for an injury that kept senior Jenny Wicks out of the lineup. Wicks was either the team’s first or second runner to cross the finish line in every one of ADM’s previous races this season.

On the boys side, the Tigers finished 9th out of 12 teams.  The top five boys runners for ADM were as follows: Kyle Ferugson was 36th (18:45.39), Trevor Harsh 43rd (18:55.72), Connor Slater 47th (19:00.71), Brady Meier 63rd (20:07.62) and Eli Schwarzkopf 71st (21:00.31).
