The Perry football team will look to turn in their gear later this week after narrowly missing the playoffs with a 3-6 record.  The Bluejay coaching staff will look to mix things up this off season when evaluating the program and deciding where changes need to be made.

“We’re not happy with our three wins and we’re not happy about missing the playoffs,” said Perry Head Coach Jason Olejniczak.  “Maybe a few years back, back to back three and four win seasons would have been accepted but we definitely want more so we will gather as a coaching staff and look at what needs to be changed.  I can tell you the first thing I noticed was the need to get stronger, faster and bigger.  It seems like we were always the smaller team and physically wore out late in games causing us to not convert on third and shorts.  Our kids have to get in the weight room and perform.  We had such a good Winter and Spring in the weight room but then it fell off during the summer and I’m not sure why.  That’s one area we will explore.”

The football team will hold a mandatory meeting and equipment hand in this Thursday at 3:45 in the weight room with voting for team awards, collection of all equipment and gear, and to discuss plans for the offseason.  This is mandatory for the players.  The end of year banquet will be November 11th in the High School Commons.
