No two football games are alike, and if you’re a fan of the Greene County Rams, you’re hoping the outcomes of the two high school football games this season between Greene County and Creston/Orient-Macksburg are not alike. The Panthers won 23-7 in Jefferson on Sept. 19 en route to a 7-2 season that saw them go 5-1 in Class 3A District 8 and finish second in the district. The Rams are 4-5 overall and they were third in District 2 at four wins and two losses. The second meeting is tomorrow night in Creston in the opening round of the Class 3A football playoffs.

The first meeting between the Rams and Panthers saw Greene County take the opening kickoff and drive the ball down the field and into the end zone. C/O-M answered with a scoring drive to tie the game at 7-7.That may or may not happen tomorrow night.  Connor Pals made a 52-yard field goal to put the visiting team up 10-7, and the Rams weren’t able to respond, getting shut out the rest of the night. Making a field goal from 52 yards does happen, but it’s not likely, and the odds of scoring on the first possession, then not again, aren’t that great either. The Rams are the only team the Panthers have held under 17 points. Conversely, C/O-M was held to 23 by the Rams and they average 38 per contest. The outcome and score are unpredictable, but since most of the games the Rams have played this season have been close, it’s safe to say the game will be a competitive one, just like the first time.

Coverage on KG98 begins at 6:30 p.m. with kickoff at 7:00 p.m.
