Greene County saw its 2014 high school volleyball season come to an end in Nevada on Monday night when the fifth ranked Cubs won a Class 3A Region 4 quarterfinal in three sets. The Rams lost by scores of 18-25, 8-25, 21-25, and Coach Donna Carhill’s team led just once all night, at 1-0 in the first set. The Cubs were up 21-15 in the first set, but the Rams climbed to within 18-21 before Nevada scored the final four points. The second set saw the Cubs lead 7-0 and they cruised to the win. In set three, Greene County was done 15-22, but again mounted a comeback to get within 21-24 before Nevada scored the game point.

Eleven varsity Rams are seniors, one of the largest classes head coach Donna Carhill has had in her long tenure in Jefferson. Sophomore Nadia Fisher was the lone Ram not a senior to get appreciable varsity playing time.

The Rams end 13-18 overall and 40-48 in sets. Greene County lost its last six games. The Cubs advance to the Region 4 semifinal on Oct. 30 in Nevada with a 35-9 record.
