The ADM Football Tigers will square off with a Carroll Tigers team that ended their season last year this Wednesday night in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs.

ADM finished last season on a four-game losing streak, capped by its loss 27-7 loss to Carroll in the first round of the 2013 playoffs. ADM actually played Carroll tough on the road. The score was tied at 7-7 at halftime, and ADM took a 14-7 lead early in the third quarter on a touchdown run by the since-graduated Grant Goeden. But Carroll scored 21 unanswered points to send ADM packing for the winter.

Despite those circumstances, ADM head coach Mike Whisner says revenge in not on his mind or the minds of his players, primarily because former seniors like Goeden are gone.

“Not really. I don’t think they think of that because it’s a whole different group,” Whisner said. “There were more seniors out last year than this year. We have quite a bit of underclassmen playing. The big thing is, and we talked about this last week, is our goal is to improve and get better each week and limit the turnovers, and create turnovers on defense. We’ve done that — not as much as we’d like, especially on the defense side, but we’re close. If we can put a full game together, that’s kind of what we’ve been working on, what we can do better.

“We’re not worried about what happened last year, it’s just shows us that we could compete with them that first half, and we just couldn’t finish the deal.”

Our coverage on Wednesday night begins at 6:15 p.m. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. on K107 and raccoonvalleyradio.com.
