Official practice for Iowa high school wrestling teams can’t be held until Nov. 17, but the postseason pairings have already been released by the Iowa High School Athletic Association. Greene County has been assigned to Class 2A Sectional 16 in Humboldt on Saturday, Feb. 7, and 2A District 8 in Webster City on Saturday, Feb. 14. The State dual meet tournament is on Wed., Feb. 18 with the traditional state tournament Feb. 19-21, both at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

Humboldt and Greene County will be joined at the Sectional by East Sac County (Lake View), Pocahontas Area, Southeast Valley (Gowrie), and Webster City. The first and second place finishers in each of the 14 weight classes at the Sectional will face the first and second place finishers from the Hampton Sectional in the Webster City District tourney. Teams in Sectional 15 are Hampton-Dumont, Algona, Clear Lake, Forest City, Garner-Hayfield/Ventura, and Iowa Falls-Alden.

Greene County head coach Mark Sawhill said it has been seven seasons since the Rams went to Humboldt for the postseason. He added his team will see Humboldt, SE Valley, G-H/V, H-D, and IF-A at various tournaments throughout the season, but the Rams have no action scheduled with Algona, Clear Lake, Forest City, ESC, Poki, and WC.
