The ADM Cross Country program is holding its annual team banquet tonight to honor achievements across the boys and girls teams and the middle school, junior varsity and varsity levels.

Tigers head coach David Zwank said he was disappointed his teams didn’t perform better down the stretch, as no ADM runner made it to the state meet. Nonetheless, Zwank said ADM’s season was in many ways a success. His highly competitive side has him wondering how much more he could have gotten out of certain runners, but that doesn’t diminish what they accomplished this season.

“Every kid certainly on our roster can be counted as having been successful,” Zwank said. “When we look at times over the course of the season, what we’ve done, some of the training that we did, those are some things they have a lot to be proud of, and I’m certainly proud of them for that.”

Four senior runners will be recognized for having reached a certain mileage goal that began in the offseason. On the boys side, Zwank praised Kyle Ferugson, Trevor Harsh and Connor Slater — Zwank’s only six-year runner dating back to his time in middle school — as having set the example for how to train. For the girls, Jenny Wicks did the same before her season was cut short due to injury.

Zwank said he’s excited about a significant amount budding talent at the freshman, sophomore and junior levels, but stressed that their future success depends on whether they buy into a more serious offseason regimen.
