It’s been nearly three weeks since ADM football’s season was ended in the first round of the playoffs by Carroll, marking the end of the high school careers of the Class of 2015

The end of those seniors’ careers also means the departure of ADM’s top three receivers from this past season that helped junior quarterback Frank Weiland lead all of Class 3A in passing yards. On paper, ADM is losing a massive amount of production in the receiving corps.

Together, brothers Jake and Joe Sloss and Johnny Reel accounted for 2,131 receiving yards, or nearly 82 percent of ADM’s receiving yards. Jake Sloss finished second in the class with 1,002 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns, while Joe was sixth with 724 yards and four touchdowns.

ADM head coach Mike Whisner was nontheless confident ADM can sustain it’s high-flying aerial attack next  season, saying he has some younger players ready to step in and perform at a high level.

“We had a whole bunch of other athletes that competed this summer in some passing, and so there’s a lot of names that didn’t get starting time, but I anticipate them to step up and step right in and make plays,” Whisner said. “They may not replace the numbers that those three guys — Sloss brothers and Johnny Reel — put up, but we’ve been throwing the ball a while, so our kids really work on that in the offseason and summertime. I think we’ll have kids that step up, and you’ll be surprised at the numbers they put up next year.”

Some options for next season include junior Ian LaFollette, who was called up to the varsity level toward the end of the season after performing well at the JV level, junior Sam McCartney, and sophomore Jacob West, to name a few.
