Less than eight months ago Guthrie Center’s new head boys basketball coach Zack Leeper was finishing his college career at Orange City’s Northwestern College, with All-American recognition. Leeper, an Adair native and Adair-Casey grad,  led the Northwestern Red Raiders with 19 points per game, and scored at least 10 points in each game, and was named to the NAIA Division II All America team. Guthrie Center Athletic Director Shane Arp says Leeper had big ambitions immediately after last season, but ultimately decided it was best come home, “Zack tried out to play in Europe, in July, and after he didn’t make the first cut, he decided he would come back home to teach and coach.”  Leeper inherits a Tiger’s team that finished 2-11 last season.
