Greene County Activities Director Dean Lansman notified Raccoon Valley Radio on Friday that the Greene County varsity wrestling program would not be hosting a tournament this year. The Rams have annually held a tournament in the middle school gym in Jefferson since the 1970’s, but Coach Lansman said the four-team dual meet event scheduled for Dec. 6 would not be held because one of the three other teams decided not to attend, leaving just three. Upon hearing that news, Estherville-Lincoln Central decided not to make the long trip to Jefferson for just two dual meets, so the tournament was cancelled.

Coach Lansman added the Rams are trying to find another varsity tournament to go to on Dec. 6. Official practice begins today for Coach Mark Sawhill’s program inside The Jefferson Fieldhouse located one block south of the square on Chestnut St.
