perryhumanesocietyThe Humane Society of Perry will be able to help more pet owners in the area next year thanks to some recently awarded grant funds.

Abby Benefiel says they have been awarded a $4,500 grant from the Miccio Foundation.

“That money is earmarked for spay/neuter work.  Not for our dogs, your dogs, the public’s dogs.  If you’re on a fixed income or receive any kind of public assistance, whether that’s social security, housing assistance, energy assistance, anything like that.  This grant will allow us to pay for spay or neuter of a dog or cat, with a limit of two per household, and that would mean all the pet owner has to pay for are the shots” says Benefiel.

Last year the Humane Society of Perry received $2,000 from the foundation. Anyone who is interested in taking advantage of this opportunity is encouraged to contact the Humane Society after the first of the year.
