Coach Mark Sawhill’s Greene County Rams forfeited as many as five weight classes in December, but the coach is  hoping his wrestling team will be able to fill 12 of the 14 weight classes consistently in 2015. Injury, illness, ineligibility, and not making weight were all reasons the Rams gave up between 18 and 30 points in most of their first 12 dual meets. The team went 4-8 overall and stands at 0-3 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference.

The coach told Raccoon Valley Radio, “We finally go through December and all that was keeping us from being more competitive. We’re hoping to get some guys healed up over the break, and we’ll be ready to go 100 percent.”

The Rams do not have anyone at 113 and 152 lbs., but if things go according to plan, they should have someone in the other 12 weight classes. The January portion of the schedule begins on Thursday, Jan. 8 in Alleman vs. North Polk and South Hamilton.
