A water leak in Scranton has been repaired.

City Clerk Melinda Hinners says crews encountered a water leak on the corner of Main Street and Chicago on Monday but have since repaired the issue.  The cause of the leak is believed to be a connection issue to a shut-off valve.

The City shut water off to residents between Madison and High streets and Grant and Lincoln streets on Tuesday while crews worked to repair the leak.  No boil order was issued and the water is safe to drink and use for bathing and cooking.

Hinners points out that there might be temporary discoloration due to rust from the water lines.  She recommends running the water and using cold water to do laundry until the discoloration subsides.

If problems persists, contact City Hall at 712-652-3888.
