Greene County senior Jordan Challen wrestled in the Class 2A consolation semifinals at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines during the State tournament and won 10-9 over Colon Fritz of Solon to advance to the third place match later today. Challen, ranked sixth, is 41-3 and will face third ranked Mason Buster of Mediapolis (51-5) in the third place match after 12:30 p.m. today.

Zach Thompson of Perry at 106 in 2A lost 5-1 to Dante Tacchia of Iowa Falls-Alden and Thompson will meet Gable Sierperda of Central Lyon/George-Little Rock for fifth. Trevor Harsh of ADM lost 3-2 in the consolation semifinal at 138 to Buster of Mediapolis and Harsh faces Fritz of Solon for fifth. Cole Bennett of ADM at 182 goes for seventh vs. Bryce Lunsford of Fairfield.

In 1A, Ben Freese of Nodaway Valley lost by fall in 2:45 this morning to Skylar Solko of Alta-Aurelia and Freese goes for fifth place against Collin Schrader of Wapsie Valley (Fairback). Cale Crowder of Guthrie Center wrestles for seventh at 220 vs. Dustin Brown of West Lyon (Inwood).

Tonight, two area wrestlers will try to become State champions. ADM junior Zach Johnston at 160 lbs. meets Chase Schiltz of Creston/Orient-Macksburg in Class 2A. Two weight classes later in 1A, senior Austin Laabs of Guthrie Center faces Evan Hansen of Exira/Elk Horn-Kimballton for the 182 crown.
