The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach office has released the results of this year’s agriculture Cash Rental Rates Survey.
Rental rates in Iowa decreased by nearly five percent this year for an average of $246 per acre.
Dallas County is part of the state’s fifth district. Overall, district wide rental rates decreased this year from $284 per acre in 2014, to $261 in 2015. This year’s rates are the lowest they have been since 2011.
In Dallas County, the overall average rental price for a tillable acre of corn or soybeans is $250. Typical corn yields are between 134 and 176 bushels per acre.
In addition, an acre of established alfalfa hay averages $138 cash rent, while improved permanent pasture rents for $77 per acre and unimproved pasture goes for $54 per acre.
A total of 20 crop producers in Dallas County responded to the survey.
