Athletes that return from major injury often face uncertainty when it comes to the depth chart. In many cases, the injury can cause them to lose their starting spot.

That’s not something that concerns ADM senior Blake Crannell, who is fully recovered from a torn ACL suffered late in the 2014 football season. Crannell has been participating in offseason workouts for both the basketball and football teams, the latter for which he was the starting running back.

Despite missing ADM’s final two games of the regular season, Crannell finished 2014 as the Tigers leading rusher. He said he expects to slide right back into the starting role this August, and a quick look at ADM’s roster suggests he’s the best option.

That doesn’t mean the multi-sport athlete is taking anything for granted.

“When I first started playing with them at the beginning of the summer, they wanted to work me back into it; they didn’t want to push me into it right away,” Crannell said. “But I feel like right now I have it pretty secure, but that could change at any time, so I’ve just got to keep going as hard as I can, as fast as I can.”
