The City of Perry is looking to make improvements to 50 blocks of roadway thanks to gas tax funds.

City Administrator Sven Peterson says Perry expects to see around $130,000 above what they normally get from the state thanks to the road use tax increase.

Peterson says they’re probably looking at a five year loan agreement to complete the “pretty significant” project.

“The big driver behind this, not only is it the funding side of it but really it’s the cost of asphalt right now.  It’s about the lowest it has been in 10 years so we’re really hoping to take advantage of that right now and get some streets overlaid.”

Peterson says they plan to go out for bid on the project this winter and hopefully have it completed next summer.

We will continue our conversation with Peterson on today’s Let’s Talk Dallas County during the 9am, noon and 5pm hours on AM 1310 KDLS and FM 99.7.
