Greene County Supervisors 10_26The Greene County Board of Supervisors met on Monday in regular session.

A public hearing was held in regards to the proposed hog expansion for B&S Pork LLC.  The project includes a 1,600-head facility, in addition to four existing buildings on the site.  Since it is a grandfathered site, no master matrix scoring was needed.  No public comments were made.  The Board then approved their recommendation of approval to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources for the project.

The Board also approved a consent agreement with the Iowa Department of Transportation and the Webster County Supervisors for projects that involve drainage districts 156 and 315, along with payment for drainage district 2.

The Supervisors postponed their decision about the County’s health insurance plan, pending a discussion with a representative with Cypress.  The County currently uses Wellmark as its health insurance carrier.

The Board then discussed applying for a housing loan through the Iowa Finance Authority for a proposed 44-unit development in Jefferson.  Guy Richardson made the motion for the county to apply, with the understanding that the County, JCorporation, Incorporated (the developer) and Greene County Development Corporation would agree that no obligation to repay the $1 million loan would go back on the county taxpayers.  However, the motion never received a second and therefore wasn’t brought to a vote.
