Lisa JaskeyVoters went to the polls on Tuesday to decide who would represent them on their respective city council and mayoral seats.

In Jefferson, with just over 17 percent voter turnout, incumbent Lisa Jaskey was re-elected to the District 2 seat of the city council.  She defeated challenger Matt Wetrich by 15 votes, with 271 votes to 256 votes respectively.  David Sloan was elected to the at-large seat.  He received 50 percent on the votes in the five-candidate field.  Incumbent Craig Berry ran unopposed for the Mayor of Jefferson and was re-elected with 460 of the 483 votes cast.

The other two contested races were for Mayor of Grand Junction and Scranton.  For Mayor of Grand Junction, challenger Dave Kersey defeated incumbent Gerold Herrick 105 votes to 87 respectively.  After leaving his position on the city council, Kersey tells Raccoon Valley Radio that he’s happy that Grand Junction residents chose him to be their next mayor.Dave Sloan

“Well I’m just very, very glad that of the results of course.  I’m glad that people finally decided to take a step and move up and look for a new mayor.”

As for Mayor of Scranton, Randy Winkelman defeated Tina Walker 47 votes to eight respectively.

All results are unofficial until the Greene County Board of Supervisors canvass the votes at their regular meeting on Monday at 9:45am.
