It’s safe to say that the days of the one sport athlete have been left up to the professional ranks while inside the high school ranks the benefit of competing in multiple sports is ever so evident.

There are many benefits to participating in multiple sports from physical to mental but as West Central Valley head football coach Eric Addy tells Raccoon Valley Radio, he views it more for the mental aspect.

” I think it’s not necessarily from the stand point of developing yourself into a better athlete as it is developing yourself into a competitor. No matter what sports you play you just have to be competing because if you know how to compete properly it’s just going to carry on to your main sports that your looking forward to where as you find out a lot about a person who can’t compete in their second or third favorite sport. I just want competitors and that’s the main thing about being in an off-season sports program and also it raises your athleticism to boost,” stated coach Addy.

As the fall turns to winter and winter turns to spring, there will be many athletes out for different sports experiencing the benefits of playing multiple sports.
