The Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department is partnering with the Shriners organization and the Greene County Schools again for their annual trip to the Shriners Circus at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.
JPRD Director Vicky Lautner says school buses will leave the Greene County Community Center parking lot at 12:30pm this Saturday to take people to the circus at the Jacobson Center on the fairgrounds and then the buses will bring everyone back. Lautner points out those who ride the bus will get free admission to the circus.
“When they get down to the circus, a Shriner goes out to the bus, gets everybody off the bus and I believe they hang onto a rope and then they seat you. You’re there for the performance and then when you go to leave, the Shriner comes and gets you and puts you back on the bus. And then you just come back to Jefferson.”
Greene County Schools provide the buses and drivers that day.
Pre-registrations are required for the trip. Call the community center at 386-3412 or stop by to sign up by this Friday.
