Greene County High School is sending several participants to the state track and field meet later this week.

The girls’ team qualified four events. Last year’s state champion in high jump, Megan Durbin will make a return trip to the state meet to defend her title. Other qualifiers include Janelle Brophy in long jump, Olivia Hansen in the 200-meter dash and the sprint medley relay of Megan Doran, Durbin, Melanie Doran and Hansen. Durbin and Hansen are scheduled to compete Thursday afternoon. Brophy will compete in the long jump Friday and the girls’ sprint medley team will run on Saturday.

As for the boys, they are sending two events to the state meet. Carter Morton qualified in the high jump, as well as the 4×100-meter relay team of Logan Lansman, Chase Stoline, Colby Kafer and Nick Schroeder. Morton will compete in the high jump Thursday afternoon and the 4×100-meter relay team will run Friday night.

The state track and field meet takes place at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
