Jefferson City Council 6_27The Jefferson City Council met Tuesday in regular session.

The Council approved the third reading to amend an ordinance to increase the deposit amount for new utility accounts to $150. The Council also approved to waive two plats of surveys for Andy Foster and Adam Ebersole, a resolution for a plat of survey for Shopko as presented and purchasing the property at 305 East Vest Street for $3,000. Additionally, the Council approved two fireworks permits with the condition that the residents select only two days to shoot off fireworks.

The Council approved Teresa Chapman as utility billing clerk, appointed Matt Wetrich to fill a vacancy on the Council and a change order to Pinnacle Construction for $14,080 for asbestos removal for the Community Development Block Grant downtown revitalization project.

During reports, Council member Dave Sloan gave an update on the animal shelter. He said the focus is more on the City handling the project and they are looking at different building designs. He mentioned that the steering committee is looking to the construction class at Greene County High School to possibly build the facility.
