The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday in regular session.
The Board heard an update from the informational technology department with David Garland. He said they are working on an issue with the county attorney’s office. An update on Adobe Reader wasn’t compatible with ProLaw software. They are also working with the sheriff’s office to integrate their system into the county’s server.
The Board then tabled their decision on the 28E agreement with Diamondhead Sanitary District, pending the county attorney’s office reviewing the contract. The Board agreed to allow the environmental health department use of the county’s spare switcher to the overall system until that department has moved into the public health building. Then, a new switcher will be purchased and split between four county entities. Public Health Director and Interim Environmental Health Director Jotham Arber gave an update to the Board. He said the remodeling of the public health facility is going well so that environmental health and emergency management can be located there. Public Health is providing home health visits for Cass County with a $130,000 contract.
The Board then decided to have Arber compile a cost report of hours that Veteran’s Affairs Administrator and General Relief Coordinator Darcia Robson is doing with environmental health and recommended her hours be split as 35-hours for veteran’s affairs and 5-hours for general relief.
County Engineer Josh Sebern then gave an update on roads and bridges projects. He said the deck was poured on the Brushy Creek bridge and it is expected to be completed by Labor Day. He discussed a problem with the new blacktop road on County Road P-18 through Bagley. He said there are dips in the asphalt road after the contractor laid in new asphalt. Sebern noted that they are part of a statewide study about that issue with the Iowa Department of Transportation. One box culvert bridge on Catholic Cemetery Road has been repaired and Burchfield Bridge has been seal coated.
Finally, the Board approved the trash collection contract with Jensen Sanitation for $140 per month for three years, the County Treasurer’s annual report, along with the fourth quarter and semi-annual report for the county substance abuse prevention grant for the 2017 fiscal year.
