The ACGC boys basketball team has a rising star on the squad. While Caden Wardyn is the leading scorer this season for the Chargers, sophomore Quynton Younker is quickly adding components to his on-court resume.
Younker is a top ten scorer in the West Central Activities Conference with 119 points and is easily on pace for 750 for his career. Younker is also tied for second in the conference in rebounds with 67, has scored ten points or more in four consecutive games, and has two double-doubles on the season. Younker scored ten of the team’s first twelve points against Des Moines Christian earlier this month. After that game head coach Jake Mohling spoke on Younker’s on-court confidence. “There’s just nothing that fazes him. Missed shots don’t faze him, turnovers, fouls, me yelling at him, nothing gets to him. He’s just the epitome of coachable. He’s got no fear. He’s got that swagger in him. It’s good to see in such a young player.”
The Chargers hit the court Tuesday against the undefeated Van Meter Bulldogs in WCAC conference action. In last year’s set against the Bulldogs, Younker averaged eight points and 3.5 rebounds. You can catch that game following the girls on True Country K107.9.
