The Guthrie County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Office has a new Office Coordinator.

Krista Downing has been in the position for less than a month. The Linden native participated in 4-H and graduated from Panorama High School and Iowa State University.  Growing up, she showcased cattle and participated in tractor restoration programs at Panorama.

Despite not having a desk yet, Downing feels at home at the Extension Office. Her future workspace is part of a remodeling project. Downing explains the current status and goals of the remodel. “Right now you have to enter through the Conference Room door. That’s where I am. Hopefully within the next couple weeks we’ll get a new floor, get the desk put in, (and) paint the walls. After the front gets done they’re going to move to the back and add two specialist offices and a small conference room. That will be a nice addition as well.”

Downing says the offices will be for existing employees, and no new staff will be hired as a result of the remodel. To hear more from Downing, listen to today’s Let’s Talk Guthrie County program.
