Just four days into the inaugural season of Greene County High school boys’ soccer, Head Coach Carl Behne and assistant Chad Black report good things taking place. School is on Spring break this week, so not everyone has reported to practice yet. More than 20 boys have been practicing since Monday, and the coaching staff expects that number to climb to closer to 30 once school resumes on Monday.

Coach Behne told Raccoon Valley Radio he’s been pleased with how well the first time players are picking up the drills and terminology. Several foreign exchange students and others that played on Black’s Under 15 team last season, make up the bulk of the experienced players.

Marilyn Tasler is the girls’ head coach. The Rams will begin practice for girls on Monday, March 19. Quite a few Greene County students played high school soccer for Boone in 2017 through an athletic sharing agreement, so the Rams should have several experienced players on the pitch this season, although it’s the first season playing for Greene County.
