Landus-Logo_Color-300x159Following the passage of the Greene County School District bond referendum, a corporate donor has announced a financial commitment.

Landus Cooperative Board of Directors is making a five-year, $50,000 pledge to the regional career academy. Initially the facility is estimated to cost $5 million to build. It will be operated and staffed by Iowa Central Community College, on a renewal basis, following a ten-year agreement with the school district.

Landus CEO Milan Kucerak says they support the initiative to help train and educate future employees to live and work in the county by offering education strains at the career academy that Landus Cooperative utilizes in their industry. Kucerak notes that the company has some employees who are reaching retirement age and unemployment is at historic lows, and so he sees this as an opportunity to keep individuals living and working on farms with their farmer-member cooperative.

Landus is the county’s largest property taxpayer, at nearly $650,000 last year.
